How to Measure Your Space for a Playpen
Planning a play area? Measure your usable floor space before choosing a playpen, so there is room for the frame, the gate and everyday movement.

Choose the intended location
Identify where you want to set up the playpen. Keep the area clear of doorways, busy walkways, unstable furniture and anything a child could reach or pull down.
Measure the usable length (L)
Measure the unobstructed floor area from one side to the other. Use the usable floor length, not the wall-to-wall room size if furniture takes up space.
Measure the usable width (W)
Measure perpendicular to the length, between the nearest obstructions. Record L × W in cm.
Allow room outside the playpen
The panels, connectors, bases and gate need space. Leave practical access for opening the door, cleaning and walking past. Do not assume the playpen’s internal size is its overall footprint.
Tell us your flooring type
Let us know if the playpen will sit on smooth tiles, textured tiles, vinyl, wood or another surface. Suction cups and non-slip parts may perform differently depending on flooring.

Important: A playpen’s internal dimensions are different from its external dimensions. Leave extra room for the frame and access, and confirm the final footprint with us.

Should I order a playpen the same size as my floor space?
No. Playpens have external dimensions that need to fit within the usable area. You also need space to open the gate and move around the setup.
What if my space is very long or an unusual shape?
